As part of Elgin’s Heritage Month, come join Friends of the Lords Park Zoo as they celebrate Mayor David Kaptain’s public announcement of the name of the Zoo’s newest resident, a one year old heifer bison. This gift to the City of Elgin from the FLPZ continues the tradition of bison being a favorite animal feature of Lords Park since 1905. Some of the other organizations helping celebrate this event, and sharing information about their programs, will include: Elgin Area Historical Society, Elgin Public Museum, Fire Barn Museum, Gail Borden Public Library, and Izaak Walton League. There will also be the opportunity to learn about being a volunteer greeter for this summer’s farm zoo season. Free music, popcorn, cake, bottled water, balloons, farm zoo pencils and more!
