558 ADDISON STREET

HISTORIC SIGNIFICANCE

558 Addison was built in 1923 for Friederick Thies & his wife by H. H. Secombe & Son.

ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE

558 Addison Street is an example of a craftsman style bungalow. Features of this style that can be found on this home include the centered dormer on a side gabled roof, tapered or battered columns on the porch, divided light windows as well as brackets at the soffit and exposed rafter tails. Modifications to this home include the installation of aluminum-siding over the first floor which originally was stucco and clapboard siding on the second floor. The rafter tails were also covered with a fascia board and aluminum soffit but still exist. The front porch was also enclosed and windows and doors were replaced.
