401 BOWEN COURT
HISTORIC SIGNIFICANCE
401 Bowen Court was built in 1924 for Amos and Emma Nelson. They remained in the home until the 1940s when it was bought by the Evangelical Covenant Church to be used as a parsonage. It remained a part of the church until 1983 when it was sold back into private home-ownership.
ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE
401 Bowen Court is considered a nice example of the bungalow type. Bungalows are considered a typology of a building due to their common appearance in form and details such as raised porches, dormers, multi-light over one lite, double hung windows in pairs or in groups and their use of materials with natural colors. Bowen Court is unique as it has a cluster of varying styles of bungalows.
