329 N. WORTH AVENUE
HISTORIC SIGNIFICANCE
329 N. Worth Avenue was built in 1909 for August and Minnie Range for $2,800. August Range was born February 22, 1866 in Pomerania, Germany. He immigrated in 1883 and became a naturalized citizen of the United States. Minnie (Wilhelmine) Ahrens, was born in Huntley, IL on February 14, 1872. They had four children, only one of whom survived into adulthood: Richard Fred (1892-1975), Ernest (1894-96), Arnold (1896-97), Esther (1898-1916). Unfortunately, Minnie died December 24, 1910 at age 42 after a “long and lingering” illness.
August married Martha Plath Baumann on August 29, 1912. It was a second marriage for both parties. August and Martha sold the home in 1918 to Philip and Elizabeth Schlager. The Schalgers did not stay in the home long as they sold the house in 1920 to Elmer and Callie Pahnke and lived in the home until 1946.
