326 ORCHARD STREET

HISTORIC SIGNIFICANCE

The Kimball brothers first sold lots 14 and 15 in block 3 of their Kimball’s Third Addition to Charles Volstorff of the Volstorff Meat Market family in 1880. In 1918, lot 15 only was sold to John Krabbe, a carpenter. The Elgin City Directory for 1925-26 has no listing for 326 Orchard Street; the 1927-28 edition lists John Krabbe at 326 Orchard.

Mr. Krabbe passed away in 1944 and his sister took over his estate who sold the house in 1945.
